Redact PDF Online
Draw a black box over content on a PDF page directly in your browser, then permanently flatten that page so the covered content is genuinely removed, without uploading your file to a server.
What this tool does
NexKit Redact PDF lets you draw a black box over content on a chosen page of a PDF directly in your browser, then permanently flattens that page to an image with the box baked in.
This is a genuine, destructive redaction: the page is rebuilt as a single image, so covered text cannot be selected, copied, or extracted afterward - unlike simply drawing a box on top of a page, which can leave the original text underneath still copyable. The trade-off is that the entire redacted page, including any text you did not box, loses selectable and searchable text, since the whole page becomes one flattened image. Other pages in the document are not affected.
How to redact a PDF
Upload your PDF and choose the page with content to hide. Drag and resize the black box over the content, then apply. The redacted page is permanently flattened - keep your original file if you need the selectable text on that page again.
Privacy and local processing
Your PDF is processed locally in your browser for this tool. NexKit does not upload selected files to a server for this workflow.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Redact PDF processes your document locally in your browser. Files are not uploaded to NexKit servers by this tool.
Is the covered content really removed, or just hidden under a box?
It is genuinely removed. The redacted page is flattened into a single image with the black box baked in, so the original text and graphics are not present in the output file at all - not just visually covered.
Does the rest of the page stay searchable and selectable?
No. Because the whole page is flattened into one image, all text on that page - not just the boxed area - loses selectable and searchable text. Other pages in the document are not affected.
Can I redact more than one page?
This tool redacts one chosen page per pass in this MVP. Run the tool again on the output to redact another page.
Is there a size limit?
Yes, this tool supports PDFs up to 25MB to keep browser processing time reasonable.
