Scan to PDF Online

Turn a photo of a paper document into a clean PDF online in your browser. Automatic page-edge detection straightens each photo, with color, grayscale, and black-and-white options and no file upload.

What this tool does

NexKit PDF Tools turns a phone photo of a paper document into a clean, flat PDF page. An embedded computer-vision engine detects the document's edges in the photo and applies a perspective correction, so an angled or skewed photo becomes a straight, cropped page.

This is different from simply placing a photo into a PDF: the tool finds and straightens the actual document within the photo first, rather than assuming the photo is already a flat, cropped page.

How to scan a document to PDF

Open the Scan to PDF page and upload a photo of your document. The tool detects the page edges automatically; drag any corner to adjust the outline if the detection needs a correction, then choose color, grayscale, or black-and-white output and add the page.

Repeat for additional pages, then save the PDF and download the result. Pages keep the proportions of the detected document rather than a fixed page size.

Accuracy and limits

This MVP supports up to 40 pages per PDF. Automatic edge detection works best with reasonable lighting and contrast between the document and its background; use the manual corner-adjustment handles whenever automatic detection does not find the right edges.

Black-and-white output uses adaptive thresholding, which works best on real text and may look different on solid-color or image-heavy originals.

Privacy and file handling

Photos are processed locally in your browser, including edge detection, perspective correction, and PDF assembly. Photos and the resulting PDF are not uploaded to NexKit servers for this workflow.

Review each straightened page before saving, and keep your original photos until you have confirmed the PDF meets your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Photos are processed locally in your browser, including document detection, straightening, and PDF creation. Files are not uploaded to NexKit servers by this tool.

What if automatic edge detection gets it wrong?

Drag any of the four corner handles to adjust the outline manually before adding the page. Automatic detection is a starting point, not a requirement.

Can I scan more than one page into the same PDF?

Yes. Add as many photos as you need, one page each, up to this MVP's limit of 40 pages per PDF.

What output styles are available?

Choose color, grayscale, or black-and-white for each page before adding it.

How is this different from Image to PDF?

Image to PDF assembles already-flat images into a PDF as-is. Scan to PDF additionally detects a document's edges within a photo and applies perspective correction to straighten it first.

What image formats can I upload?

JPG, PNG, and WebP photos are supported, up to 10MB per image.
