What this tool does
NexKit Image to Text extracts text from a JPG, PNG, or static WebP image directly in your browser using an offline OCR (optical character recognition) engine. No file is uploaded to a server - the image is read and recognized entirely on your own device.
This uses the same self-hosted OCR engine that already powers NexKit OCR PDF, applied directly to a standalone image instead of a PDF page.
Choosing a language
Select English, Simplified Chinese, or both before extracting text. Choosing the correct language (or languages) for your image improves accuracy - OCR engines are language-specific and may misread characters if the wrong language is selected.
Accuracy and limitations
OCR accuracy depends on image quality, font, resolution, and background noise. Clear, high-contrast, reasonably high-resolution text (such as a screenshot, scanned document, or well-lit photo of printed text) produces the best results. Handwriting, stylized fonts, and low-resolution or heavily compressed images may produce lower accuracy or missed characters.
This tool returns plain extracted text only - it does not preserve layout, tables, columns, or formatting from the source image.
