What this tool does
NexKit PDF Tools helps you add header and footer text to a PDF before sending, printing, filing, or reviewing it. Six independent text positions are available: left, center, and right on a header row at the top of the page, and left, center, and right on a footer row at the bottom of the page. Any position can be left blank.
Header and footer text can include the {page} placeholder for the current page number and the {pages} placeholder for the total number of pages in the PDF, so a footer such as {page} / {pages} updates automatically on every selected page. Chinese text is supported through an embedded font, including mixed with placeholders in the same line.
How to add a header or footer
Open the Add Header and Footer page and choose a PDF. After the browser reads the page count, review the first-page preview and enter text for any of the six positions you need. Set the page range, font size, margin, opacity, and color, then run the tool and download the result.
Page ranges use viewer page numbers starting at 1, for example all or 1-3,5. The {page} placeholder always reflects the real page number in the PDF and the {pages} placeholder always reflects the total pages in the file, regardless of which pages are selected.
Overlap and collision handling
If text in the same row would overlap, for example a long left header running into a center label, this tool rejects the request with a clear error instead of silently overlapping, shrinking the font, truncating the text, or wrapping it onto another line. Shorten the text, use fewer positions, reduce the font size, or increase the available width, then try again.
Limits and formats
This MVP accepts PDF files up to 25MB and up to 300 pages. These limits are provisional while real-world and mobile validation continues. Password-protected PDFs, damaged PDFs, and files that exceed browser memory limits are rejected with a clear error.
Only the {page} and {pages} placeholders are recognized. Date and filename placeholders, multi-line text, and custom font uploads are not included in this first version.
Privacy and file handling
Supported PDFs are processed locally in your browser. The selected PDF, generated PDF, and PDF contents are not uploaded to NexKit servers for this workflow.
Review the downloaded result before sharing it, especially if the source has rotated pages, cropped pages, mixed page sizes, forms, bookmarks, or advanced annotations. Keep the original PDF until the output is approved.

Can I use a header and a footer at the same time?
